Son House - Death Letter Blues
Son House (1902-1988) was one of the initial pioneers and most important exponents of the Mississippi Delta blues. Developing a slashing slide guitar technique that featured strong rhythmic repetitions and a vocal style reflective of spiritual and southern gospel singers, House was a critical innovator who had a profound influence on countless other bluesmen. The majority of the tracks featured here come from two emblematic sessions recorded by Son House in 1941 and 1942.
Includes two Seattle TV show soundtracks from early 1960; the Son House signature song 'Death Letter Blues', and 'John The Revelator'.
